On Saturday 31st May nine teams (Amesbury, Gosport, Richmond, Reigate, Guildfordians, Bexley, Surbiton Decca, Orpington and Esher as the home team) from four counties and Greater London came together at the Esher Walking Rugby Festival in the perfect, albeit warm, conditions.  The teams of seven players each played every other team in nine rounds on four pitches with one team having a bye in each round.

Whilst number of tries were recorded the awards were given out not for winning but for Best Attacking Team and Best Defensive Team.

The Best Fairplay Team was awarded to Orpington, voted for by the referee of each match.  They were presented, for photographs, with the Andrew Inwood cup, which will have their team engraved on it, but remain at Esher in memory of one of our founding members of Walking Rugby.  A mini replica of the cup was also presented to be taken home.

The Best Player was also voted for by the referee of each match. A three-way tie ensued for this award between two women, Zoe from Amesbury and Katy from Orpington and our own John Mitchell from Esher Bishops.  All three took home their own trophy as the Best Players of the festival.

Burgers and Beers finished off the fun and enjoyable festival considered a success by all attendees.
