Esher Rugby Football Club is pleased to announce a number of senior management appointments, strengthening the club’s operational leadership going into 2026.
The club is delighted to confirm the appointment of Mick Kelly as General Manager, starting on 5 January 2026. Mick will take up the role on a fixed-term contract through to June 2026, following Gerry McPake, who leaves the club at the end of December.
Mick brings a deep and long-standing connection to Esher RFC, having been a member of the club for over 20 years. He has been closely involved as both a parent and coach within the Minis and Juniors section, supporting his son’s journey through the club. Mick has also coached the Under 21s and has been Head Coach of the Abbots since 2021 , giving him a strong understanding of the club across multiple levels.
Alongside his rugby background, Mick brings extensive senior leadership and commercial experience from his professional career in the construction industry. He was a Construction Director at BAM Construct UK, having left the role earlier this year, and holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Construction Management from Liverpool Polytechnic. His expertise includes commercial and contract management, procurement, cost and value engineering, subcontractor management, and refurbishment projects, all of which translate strongly into the operational, financial, and facilities management responsibilities of the General Manager role.
Alongside Mick’s appointment, the club is also pleased to announce the appointment of Becky Vigar, MAAT, ACMA, as Finance Manager. Becky joins Esher RFC with over 15 years’ experience in accountancy, bringing strong financial governance, reporting, and commercial oversight to the club. In addition to her professional background, Becky holds a voluntary role as Senior Manager at Guildford Junior Ice Hockey Club, providing valuable experience of financial management within a community sports environment.
The club is also delighted to confirm the appointment of Kieran Canavan as Bar & Catering Manager, following his successful service in the role on an interim basis for the past 12 months. Kieran’s fixed term appointment reflects his strong leadership, operational performance, and commitment to developing the club’s hospitality offering.
The club would also like to thank Gerry McPake for his hard work, commitment, and leadership during his time as General Manager, and previously Bar and Catering manager over a period of 6 years at the club.
Gerry has played an important role in supporting Esher RFC through a period of change and development, and everyone at the club wishes him the very best for the future.
These appointments represent an important step in strengthening the club’s management structure, and Esher RFC looks forward to the positive impact they will have across all areas of the club.
