Esher Rugby

Last Saturday the 4^th annual Esher Touch Tournament took place. The last 3 years, the Esher Touch Tournament has always had fantastic hot weather. Unfortunately this year it was cold, windy, and rainy!

However, the weather didn't dampen the hundreds of players spirits from across 24 inter-club teams battling it out in men's and mixed sexed competitions to win the various cups, plates, and spoons.

Thanks to Stephen Tanghe, this year for the first time we even had a mini's competition with 20 mini's getting involved and due to its success, is something we'll look to grow for the future touch tournaments.

During the day whilst the rugby was playing, we had a DJ pumping out the tunes, beer flowing, Godfrey's Coffee Cultivation, and Gyros street food. After the games finished, it was back to the club house for the post tournament social with South Africa vs Ireland (rugby) and England vs Switzerland (Euros) on the screens. England even topped of the day wining of penalties!

Tournament Winners:

Men's Cup = Teddington RFC

Mixed Cup = South London Squirrels

Men's Plate = Esher Roar

Mixed Plate = Southampton Stormers

Men's Spoon = Twickenham RFC

Mixed Spoon = Surrey Bisons

Esher Teams:

Esher Roar managed to win the men's plate trophy. Esher Predators were runners up in the Spoon, and the Esher Expendables were the spirit of the tournament.
